THE VARIETY Club of Great Britain has elected John Ratcliff, chairman of the Ratcliff Group which manufactures commercial vehicle tail lifts, as its Chief Barker (president) for 1985. The club is one of the country's foremost charities for sick and needy children and is well supported by people from the world of show business.
Mr Ratcliff joined Variety in 1976 and became a member of the Crew (executive committee) in 1980. He has served as cochairman of the Appeals and Fund-Raising Committees and is also a former co-chairman of the Sunshine Coach Committee, which provides outings for underprivileged children.
