He is starting his fourth week in a French jail after being arrested in Calais when heroin worth £ 8,5m was found in his trailer (CM 25-31 July), The French continue to deny him access to his family and friends while he awaits a decision on a bail application made by a French lawyer employed by his company. Twente Express managing director Trevor Paul says the company has passed on hun dreds of letters of support to Alison but no reply has been allowed out.
French customs have asked their Belgian counterparts to investigate the source of the heroin that found its way into Alisop's ,Troupage load, But they ignored Paul's offer to help when he contacted UK customs.
Paul is co-ordinating attempts by customers to get back their portions of the load still held by the French authorities. The last thing we want to du is create a situation between ourselves and the French authorities," he says. "It's just a nightmare."
