Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

"Ith regard to your recent litorial concerning the " gap " eween road hauliers and eight forwarders. I consider am able to answer your restion "Can hauliers act as lipping and forwarding rents?"

At the turn of 1973 I was mtrolling the 'international ansport division of the S. mes Group at Aldridge. We rovidecl our customers with a 10-tractor, 150-trailer driver:companied fleet serving the K domestic market and most uropean countries. All custoars received a full documentson service; S. Jones had its wn CAN, customs transit uarentee and arranged bah nport and export customs learances. One would have elieved S. Jones could then e considered as competent owarders as well as operators. Jot the case! Up;td 50 per cent f traffic received at thalt time ras still via shipping and erwarding agents, probably ,ue to the fact of a lack of onfidence on behalf of menuacturers. In fact the nstitute of Freight Forwarders efused company membership o S. Jones on the grounds they vere not totally involved in reight forwarding!

I wholeheartedly agree with he point made by Mr Sherriff t is about time a meeting was Lrranged between RHA and FF. For I am sure then, and • nly then will each learn to realise the absolute necessity 'or the other.
