Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

F. FIRST two production ;ions of the Samson Easy?.t mechanical sheeting ipment for open truck ies have gone into service .1 the Agricultural Division of ICI Ltd.

They are fitted to Samson tandem-axle semi-trailers, with heavy-duty mild steel tipping bodies of 23cum (30cuyd) capacity. The tractors are AEC Mandators. About 181/2 tons of payload can be carried per trip.

Each ICI trailer works 24 hours a day carrying potash or powdered limestone from the reception area to the fertiliser manufacturing plant about three miles away. It has to be unsheeted and sheeted nearly 40 times a day—something which can be accomplished only with very fast covering. With normal sheeting methods the vehicle would spend more time standing still than moving it is claimed.

With the Easysheet, the operation of sheeting and unsheeting takes about half a minute. All the driver has to do is to turn a crank handle while he stands at the front of the body.

The internal dimensions of the Samson bodies for ICI are 8.79m (28ft 10in) by 2.31m (7ft 7in) by 1.10m (3ft 7in) high. The Easysheet equipment accounts for some 407kg (8cwt) of the trailer's unladen weight of 6,452kg (6 tons 7cwt).
