Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society has for many years received influential support in respect of commercial-motor exhibits. The society first gave specific attention to the modern road motor on the occasion of its 1899 show. As many of our readers may be able to recall, the show of that year took place at Liverpool, and the opportunity was seized upon for the joint organization of a competition under the auspices of the society and the Liverpool Self-Propelled Traffic Association. That co-operation was greatly assisted by the fact that the late Earl of Derby was at the time President, of both bodies. Gold and silver medals were awarded, and the list of winners included such well-known names as Thornyeroft, Leyland, and Straker.

The interest of Lancashire manufacturers and traders, this year, will prove to be in no sense abated. In fact, the selection of Preston. in which town one finds the headquarters both of the R.L.A.S. and the

Lancashire County Council, and the depots of at least one important motor-carrying undertaking, rather inclines one to the belief that the forthcoming show will outstrip all its predecessors in heavy-traffic interest.

It goes without saying that carriers and other owners from all parts of Lancashire will take the opportunity to examine the latest vehicle and tractor exhibits, whilst the considerable agricultural community will undoubtedly evince comparable interest in the agrimotor and allied exhibits.

For the guidance of such intending visitors, we to-day publish a brief forecast. This should convey to them confirmation of their own anticipations that the show will be worthy of attention at their hands. The numbers in parentheses, after the names of the exhibitors, are those of the stands.

Next week, after a visit to the show, we intend to present a fuller report. Arrangements are also being made for its extra circulation.
