Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

While the Movano might look good in under the shiny fights at Vauxhall's stand there's one aspect of the newcomer that you won't see and that's the cost of ownership, writes Ian Tonkin We've already established that the new Movano looks good, rides nicely and comes in 4,500kg GVW. You might already be aware of the fact that its got loads of interior storage space and is versatile to boot, but the real deal-breaker will be how much of an impact will it make on the bottom line?

Starting with the base 100hp engine, fuel consumption on the combined cycle range between 30.1mpg and 35.1mpg depending on body type, while emissions vary beteween 211q/km and 249g/km (again, model dependant).

The mid-range 125hp engine, which is expected to be the volume-seller, has identical fuel consumption and emissions figures to that of it's lowered-powered counterpart At time of going press no official fuel figures were available for the 146hp unit, but if the other two powerplants are anthing to go by it could be in the region of 30mpg overall. CO2 emissions stand at 228g/krn to 257g/km at the top-end .

Al three engine outputs are rated to Euro-4, however, those with a strong environmental agenda can order their vehicle with a diesel particulate filter, which brings the Mayan() up to the highest Euro-5 specification for NOx and particulate emissions.

Along with the cleaner and more frugal powerplants, Vauxhall will be adding a 'greener' version of the Movano in the second half of 2010, branded Ecoflex, that will rival existing fuel-sippers like the Mercedes Sprinter ECO-Start and Ford Transit Econetic.

Duncan Aldred, MD Vauxhall Motors, says: "The commercial vehicle market is of great strategic importance to us. The rejuvenation of our product offering in this segment clearly reflects our ambitions to grow in this area and to strengthen our market position. This also includes focused improvement and reinforcement of our sales and dealer network.

"The new Movano plays a key role in our sales plan for 2010. We believe that with it's combination of a wide selection of variants and low operating and maintenance costs the new Movano has what it takes to establish itself at the top of the light commercial vehicle segment" •
