Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

There is much song and dance about electric vans, but you hear very little about battery powered HGVs... until now. Renault Trucks and energy provider EDF Energy have signed an agreement to develop the use of electric lorries and commercial vehicles in smoky cities.

Word on the street is that partnership will share experiences and analysis for 'testing an effective electric solution for local transport'. The two firms will also look at the performance of lithium-ion batteries for HGV applications: if the current range of the EVPVs (electric vehicle panel vans.. .we made that up) are anything to go by, it'll be about 100-120 miles.

We assume the Renault Maxity Electric, which has a payload of two tonnes, will have to carry more batteries than any of its EVPV counterparts, but then again, it is a truck and will be carrying much heavier loads. Will the electric motors ofer enough torque to shift the weight? We will keep a beady eye on proceedings for you.
