Irish Dart

DART Containerline is to open its new office in Dublin today (Friday) as part of the company's expansion plans in Ireland. It is hoped that the new office will increase trade between Ireland and North America.

Dart's Dublin chairman' Mike Jordan said that the company had achieved a growth rate of "significant proportions" in the past seven years and Irish cargoes to America had played a part in that expansion.

Irving merger

J. A. IRVING and Co. Ltd, forwarding and warehousing, has absorbed into its organisation the trading activities of its long-established Warrington based associate company, Bishop's Wharf Ltd, of Howley Lane.

There will be no redundancies from the merger. Its purpose was to "place under one management the wide range of facilities hitherto provided by two separate organisations," says the company.

Cornish roads

THE Department of Transport has announced plans to modify the A39 trunk road at Hendra Cross near Wadebridge, Cornwall. The DTp says the road is poorly aligned at present and visibility both on the trunk road junction and the side roads is restricted.

Cheap park

CONCERN about the use of Marple town centre car park for lorry parking was expressed by Nigel Rose at la meeting of Stockport Council's Marple area committee.

Mr Rose alleged that on one Sunday there were 19 lorries and two buses on the car park at a time when the drivers were not on duty. At least 10 were from outside the area. He claimed that the area was being used as a permanent lorry park on the cheap.
