The application was opposed by five county councils and 36 town councils.

The hearing was adjourned until April 22.

Rochdale Transport Department's application for higher fares was granted in full by the North Western Licensing Authority on Monday. It is hoped to introduce the revised rates on April 10.

A T last week's annual meeting of the rAWestern Division of the Traders Road Transport Association, Mr. C. J. Horsley (J. S. Fry and Sons, Ltd.) was elected chairman, with Mr. E. W. Preston (Ushers Wiltshire Brewery, Ltd.) as vice-chairman. Mr. Horsley succeeds Mr. D. J. F. Jackson, who has gone to live in Mevagissey.
