Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Among recent catalogues received at this office is one from Sturmey Motors, Limited, of the Lotis Works, 230-250; Widdrington Road, Coventry, in which some six pages are devoted to a description, and complimentary Press notices, of the very durable form of epicyclic gear which is. fitted in the Lotis cabs and vans. Among the illustrations, we notice a fine Royal Mail van—a type which is now employed in maintaining mail services in different parts of the country, and which appears to be doing the work in a most satisfactory manner. Of such vehicles, we may mention that which runs between Bradford and Leeds. The catalogue also contains .a vast amount of data relating to the dimensions of the different types of chassis built by this maker,

and those of our readers, in the London area, who would care to examine and try one of these machines, should make application to Messrs. W. and T. Robson, of Go, Farringden Road, B.C., who are the appointed I.onclon agents for Sturmey Motors, Limited.

Another of the excellent catalogues published by Alfred Herbert, Ltd., of Coventry, has reached this office. This particular one is the second edition of section C2, and deals particularly With the " Coventry " patent concentric chuck, which is an entirely new departure in the design of selfcentring chucks; it is claimed that its use entirely obviates the great troubles experience's.' with geared scroll chucks, which troubles generally arise through weakness of the bodies, breaking of pinions and scrolls, and excessive wear. We should advise motor manufacturers and repairers to obtain a copy of this publication.

Messrs. The Sheppee Motor Campan; , of Thomas Street, York, whose steam wagon and char-A-banes chassis was described in this journal on the 3rd. December last, have just issued quite a budget of information relating to the various steam fittings which they manufacture. All these devices are specially designed for use with highly-superheated steam, and in their construction the need for packed glands has been eliminated. Amongst 'hese fittings is a very full range of throttle valves, and an excellent relief valve for the blowing-off of steam from a " flash " generator.
