Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ford is to cancel its electric car project. Production of the Think City model at Ford's Norwegian site will cease by the end of this year; the Michigan plant will stop building the Think Neighbor at a date yet to be announced.

The Think, designed as an electrically powered urban delivery vehicle, is currently taking part in an 18-month trial in the UK with firms including AT, the BBC and Body Shop (CM 10-16 January); nonetheless Ford says it will drop the project after the trial due to lack of interest.

"There is limited customer demand for current battery electric vehicles," admits Richard Parry-Jones. Ford Motor Co group vice-president, global product development and chief technical officer. Instead, he says, the group will concentrate its resources on the development of hybrid and fuel-cell technology.
