Overall CV registrations continued to rally in August, rising 4.5% from August 2001 to 16.263. The total for the first eight months of 2002 was up 3.7% to 200,632 units.

The lighter end of the market continues to provide the most growth, with strong demand for new and replacement vehicles from the service, transport and construction sectors. Year-onyear registrations rose 6.0% in August and 5.4% for the first eight months.

For the first time in six months year-on-year HGV registrations were also up in August, by just 0.9% to 3,569. However, the January-August total stands at just 32.812 units this year—down 4.8% on 2001.
