A driver was killed when his HGV collided with tanker loaded with paraffin in Northumbria 'he incident happened at 12:50hrs last Monday 9 September) on the southbound carriagenay of the Al. As the tanker was turning left into the road to Guyzance it was hit by a ruck carrying scaffolding.

A Northumberland Police spokesperson ays: "The tanker spun out of' control and then

went into a field, while the other HGV hit the central crash harrier. The police had to monk tor that the tanker was not leaking and pump the fuel into another vehicle.

"The tanker driver was not seriously injured but the driver of the second vehicle had to be cut out of his cab and taken to Newcastle General hospital for treatment, where he died the next day."
