ANOTHER important development in the co-ordination of the road-transport industry is signalized by the incorporation of Central Carriers, Ltd., which is to regulate the collection and delivery arrangements in the West Midlands of the following. concerns :— Beresford, Caddy and Pemberton, Ltd.; Blackburn Parcel Express, Ltd.; Broadway and Clarke's Transport (Birmingham), Ltd.; Giles and Bullen, Ltd.; P.X., Ltd.; and Young's Express Deliveries, Ltd.

All these have been engaged in trunk services to and from Birmingham for some years, and the new joint organization is designed to effect economies in their operation and to maintain an efficient service to the public, despite war conditions. Large premises have been acquired in the centre of Birmingham at Sheepcote Street, and a start has already been made, whilst negotiations are proceeding with other important concerns. • It must be emphasized that the concerns mentioned are in no way connected financially, except in this specific instance. The new company has been organized on a wholly co-operative basis, and it is the intention of the founders that no firm or group shall be able to acquire control.

The first directors are :—Mr. R. Hinclley (chairman), Mr.' C. S. Dunbar (managing), Messrs. F. R. Beresford, F. Bullen, W. J. A. Peck, R. Sephton, C. Warwick, and R. L. Young. .
