Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ACOMMENDABLY sturdy and welldesigned trailer provided with a particularly neat arrangement of Ackerman steering is now being produced by Guy Motors, Ltd., Wolverhampton. This trailer is built from parts interchangeable with those employed on the standard chassis built by the same rnanufac. turers, and it should therefore make a special appeal to those who use or contemplate using these vehicles, although the company are prepared to supply trailers to carry 3 tons and suitable for use with any make of vehicle of 30-ewt. or more load capacity.

The frames are constructed of rolled channel steel braced by two tubular cross-members and -a specially strong front cross-member of channel steel, well gusseted to the side-members—this for the reason that the drawbar is supported and the stress of the drive taken by this cross-member.

Steering is effected by a drop-arm, which is formed integral with the pivot pin to which the drawbar is attached, the connection being such that the drawbar is permitted vertical as well as horizontal movement. From the drop-arm a link—ball-jointed at each end—connects with the stub-axle steering arm at the off side, the steering tie-bar being positioned in front of the axle. It is interesting to note that the wholeof the steering connections are oil-lubricated, as in the lorries, the tubular connecting links holding sufficient oil for 10,000 miles' running. Braking is effected by internal-expanding shoes operating on the rear-wheel drums and protected from the entry of mud and water, the connection to the towing vehicle being by wire cable. Many qualified engineers are of the opinion that the buffer spring used between vehicle and trailer should be designed as a part of the trailer and not embodied with the towing hook, and in the Guy trailer the cushion spring is neatly located in the tubular tie-bar.
