Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Creditors at collapsed Aberdeen haulier Sandy Bruce (Trucking) are

owed E1.5m, but the outlook is "hopeful". Chris Tindall reports.

THE EXTENT OF the debts at Sandy Bruce (Trucking) has been laid bare in a report from its administrators, which shows creditors are owed more than £1.5m.

The troubled Aberdeen operator was forced to call in accountants in August following months of financial uncertainty (CM 17 August). Some of the firm's assets were sold to United Freight Distribution (UFD),which resulted in a "minimisation of job losses" according to joint administrator John Reid at Dcloitte &Touche. However. the UFD deal did not include responsibility for Sandy Bruce (Trucking)'s trade creditors —so far they have submitted nearly

£600,000 in claims. HM Revenue and Customs is demanding £664,000; the Department ofTrade and Industry is claiming another £126,000.

A creditors' meeting will he held this week to establish how much creditors will receive; sources say the outlook for creditors is "hopeful".

But Alan Bolsworth, director for Renfrewshire-based A &D Logistics, which is owed £19,600, rates the chance of his firm receiving any of this money as "very slim". He reports:"We had done work for [Sandy Bruce (Trucking)] before and were paid, no problem. But in the last quarter we made a loss as well. It wasn't nice; it was annoying because we had paid all our people and paid for the fuel. -We just put in our claim and haven't heard anything since. My

brother went to [Sandy Bruce's premises] a week or two before it went into administration, but he got no answer."
