European Week for Safety and Health (EWS&H) runs from 16-22 October. In the UK it coincides with Back Care Week, which is designed to reduce back pain and musculo-skeletal disorders by increasing awareness, identifying, solutions and supporting practical projects in the workplace.

It is estimated that back complaints cost the UK economy more than .£.5bn a year, with more than 119 miNion working days lost. EWS&H is organised by the Health & Safety Executive and supported by the CBI, TUC and various associations formed to provide help and understanding about back pain.
