• Parcels carrier Nexday, which launched a franchisee network in May, has shifted its target franchisee from one-man set-ups to bigger operations.

"We've changed the franchise goals fairly significantly," says managing director Geoffrey Rowett. "We want franchisees to set up premises with more than one van to cover a much larger territory.

Target areas are South-West England and East Anglia."

Rowett feels that bigger franchise operations will enable Nexday to grow faster, particularly on collections.

So far two depot-type franchises are running, in Bristol and Cambridge, with about eight one-van outfits. Nexday wants to set up 80 more throughout England and Wales by the end of next year.

Applicants are required to invest a minimum of .U0,000.
