Norman Simmons has been appointed engineering director of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd and joins a new management team being formed under Philip Croft the company's new director and general manager.

Formerly Mr Simmons was group engineering manager. He joined Crane. Fruehauf in 1972 from King . Truck Equipment and he was previously with David Brown Gear Industries and A. V. Roe and Co Ltd. Peter Millard, 42, who joined the company earlier this year as UK sales manager — he was previously sales manager, Lancer Boss — becomes sales director.

Mr Carter joined Dunlop in 1953 at the Nottingham tyre depot. Paul Addenbrooke, 40, and Bert Sabel!, 62, have been promoted area managers of two new operating divisions at Midland Red. The areas east and west, were introduced following the transfer of certain services to the West Midland PTE.

Cyril Eyers has rejoined J. H. Sparshatt (Coachbuilders) Ltd as refrigeration sales manager. Mr Eyers was previously With the company for 26 years.

Michael B. Wright, 39, who joined Castro! in 1967, has been appointed manager of the technical services department, responsible for liaison on lubrication matters between Castrol and the UK automotive industry.

Obituaries

We record with regret the deaths of G. W. Irwin, F. R. Marbrow and C. G. H. Wildman Mr G. W. Irwin was R HA Eastern area secretary for many years and retired in 1959. Mr F. R. Marbrow, 60, was operators controller at the Derby branch of Eastern British Road Services Ltd. • Mr Cecil George Harry Wildman, 62, founded the Bedford road haulage firm of C. G. H. Wildman and Co Ltd 27 years ago.
