Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IT is obvious from the success of the Manchester parade and the generous support given to the Liverpool fixture which took place on Saturday last that the function of transport is adequately recognized by the civic authorities. Close on 300 vehicles were entered for the Liverpool parade, which was organized on much the same lines as the Manchester function, namely (1) historical review ; (2) typical loads conveyed by Liverpool lorries ; (3) the C.M.11.A. parade.

Saturday, October 18th, was the commencement of Liverpool Civic Week, and the motor parade was thus, for the first time, accepted as a civic attraction worthy enough of inclusion in a bigger scheme of celebrations. Close on 70

companies entered vehicles, and in the competition's for the challenge cups, etc., there were 155 scheduled competitors, 119 being petrol vehicles and 30 steam wagons. Two companies alone accounted for about 80 machines, the Anglo American Oil Co., Ltd., entering nearly 40 machines, and Garlick,

Burrell and Edwards, Ltd., well-known haulage contractors, a like nmnber. Nearly all the leading trades were represented in the parade, and several electric vehicles which participated attracted much notice.

The Civic Week programme gave an opportunity for what is something of a novelty in motor coach tours, i.e., short runs to the suburban housing estates. Collingwood Motors, Ltd., who operate a fleet ot Daimler coaches, will dispatch coaches each day this week at 12.45 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. for a tour or the principal housing estates. Each coach will be accompanied by an official of the 'lousing Department, who will act as a guide. The booking fee for these short excursions is 1s. per passenger.
