Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FORECOURT fuel supplies could be threatened 'if BP tanker drivers on the Sainsbury's fuel distribution contract vote to strike.

Approximately 200 drivers on the BP contract who belong to the union Unite are being balloted on industrial action.

The move follows Greenergy's appointment as Sainsbury's petrol supplier from mid-January, a contract currently held by BP, which runs its logistics in-house. Greenergy has shortlisted TDG and Turners (Soham) to distribute petrol to the retailer.

Unite says it is concerned that a move from national BP negotiations could force drivers to accept lower wages and lessen the union's ability to represent members.

It believes that if Sainsbury's, TDG and Turners (Soham) refuse to work with the un

ion on a way forward, a dispute in the coming weeks is a near certainty.

A spokesman for BP says the issues raised by the union are matters for their new employers to address. "BP is working closely with [Unite] and drivers' representatives to ensure their transition... is as smooth as possible."
