Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FIRM THAT employed a full-time building worker as its nominated transport manager has been given the green light to carry on.

No action was taken against the 0-licence held by Bradfordbased WH Transport after NorthEastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney was satisfied its part-time transport manager could effectively carry out his role.

The company, which held an 0-licence for three vehicles and three trailers, had been called before the TC because of concern over the fact that transport manager Alan Lister was employed full-time elsewhere.

Director James Clark said that Lister had been appointed in February after the company's original transport manager resigned.

Lister worked two-and-ahalf hours each evening for the company, and for four hours on a Saturday morning.

He checked all the records and made sure the vehicles were maintained on time.

Lister had no say in the running of the business, but advised if there was a problem. The directors took a handson approach.

Lister said he and the firm's directors would never condone running a defective vehicle.

He worked eight hours a day on a building site and felt that gave hint sufficient time to act as transport manager. He regarded the fleet as his own. In reply to the TC, Lister said he had been the transport manager on other licences in the past. There had not been an problems since he had re signed from the licenc ' held by another operate in March.

He was not intereste in becoming the transpoi manager on any othe licences.

The TC said that, ult mately, the way things ra was the responsibility c the company and the bottom lin was that vehicles had to be safe a the road.
