RETAILER QD STORES has entered a longterm partnership with Norwich-based Foulger Transport in order to take advantage of the haulier's congestion-cutting PortalNorwich scheme.

Under TUPE regulations, 10 QD Stores truck drivers have transferred to Foulgcr, which will now handle distribution to more than 20 QD outlets.

The retailer's Norwich operation will use Porta INorwich, an initiative that allows Foulger to distribute consolidated loads into the city using designated bus lanes.

"Our arrangement will not only be in place to provide a more efficient delivery service to our stores, but it is also our intent to work closely with our suppliers to offer cost-effective backhaul opportunities in our ongoing commitment to promote a greener environment," says Chris Jacks, business development consultant for OD Stores.
