Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CM test published 5-11 October.

Power: 3I5kW (422hp).

Average fuel consumption: 38.1lit/100km (7.42mpg).

Average speed: 73.4km/h (45.7mph). Payload as tested: 23.62 tonnes.

Ni "Intelligent horsepower" is how Leyland Daf describes the latest 320kW (430hp) version of its long-serving 11.6-litre WS block.

Around our Scottish route the 95.430 returned an extremely impressive 38.1lit/100km; better than the previously most powerful 95.400 without compromising average speed. So not all high-powered tractors cost at the pumps.

At 7.38 tonnes our 95,430 wasn't the lightest in our test group; the similarly powered ERF twin-steer E14.465 had a better payload but without a high-roof cab and rear air suspension.

The combination of the WS engine and ZF Ecosplit box worked well although the box can't be rushed. Ride and handling were what we've come to expect from the 95: always well controlled.

The 95's old light blue/grey trim which showed every mark has been replaced by a more practical dark blue. Our Space Cab 95.430 had plenty of room and storage space for the long-haul driver, and air conditioning is standard with the Space Cab. The best way to sum up the 95 is as a friendly truck to drive with few vices.
