• A bid for a new licence by Cardiff-based Damdale Enterprises has been adjourned for the second time because of pending prosecutions for alleged offences, including the use of untaxed and uninsured vehicles. Damdale was seeking a licence for five vehicles and 10 trailers. Director Robert Salmoni was previously involved with Haul-Tec, a company whose licence was revoked in January.

Traffic Commissioner John Mervyn Pugh was told that a driver had been fined for tachograph offences by Cardiff magistrates. Salmoni was interviewed by the police and as a result there were cases pending, including allegations of unauthorised use in circumstances where both the vehicle and driver had been hired out by Salmoni. There was also a more recent alleged incident in Hampshire.

Salmoni said that he had not as yet received any summonses relating to the alleged offences.

Mervyn Pugh allowed the company its current interim authority to operate three vehicles to continue but warned that the company's repute could be in doubt if the alleged offences were proved.
