Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Marshall AWD is set to launch an uprated MT 4x4 chassis, designed for operation at 17 tonnes GVW in the UK and 19 tonnes GVW for export.

The UK 17-tonner will be powered by a six-cyclinder Perkins Phaser; the 19-tonne export chassis will use the Cummins C-Series 8.3-litre engine.

The new models join Phaserpowered MT 4x4 12 and 15-tonners. AWD's UK 4x2 range will be dropped, and with it the new cab that AWD was developing before the company went into receivership. Future plans include 4x2s and 6x4s with Marshall SPV bodywork for the municipal market and other specialist users.

The 4x2 chassis will still be available for export: the ageing TJ is popular in African countries; it is assembled from completely knocked down (CK.D) kits in Sudan. Marshall has also announced the complete range of AWD specialist vehicles.

Top of the range is the TT120-40 tank transporter and heavy haulage tractor. It is powered by a 300kW (402hp) turbocharged Cummins NTE engine with drive transmitted to the Kirkstall axles via a Fuller nine-speed range-change gearbox and Kirkstall transfer box.

Maximum GCW is 120 tonnes; Marshall claims a trailer/payload capacity of more than 107 tonnes. Gradeability is said to be 35% (1-in-2.9) with a maximum geared speed of 70km/h (44mph). Caterpillar engines are offered as an option and a 6x4 version is available.

Completing the new range is an uprated version of the TM 6-6 6x6 chassis, which is designated the TM 30-30.

Gross vehicle weight is increased from 24.39 tonnes to 30 tonnes, boosting payload from 14 to a claimed 18 tonnes.

The TM 30-30 is powered by a 255kW (300hp) Caterpillar engine, giving it 46% more power than the TM 6-6. A more powerful version, the TM 30-43, is also available with a 317kW (425hp), Caterpillar 3406B engine.
