Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NOW available in the standard range of semi-trailers manufactured by Crane

Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. is a three-axle unit which will allow four-wheel tractive units plated for operation at 32 tons gross train weight but (because of the required axle spread) at present limited to 30 tons g.t.w., to be used at the greater capacity. An extra 1.5 tons payload is claimed over a tandem-axle semi-trailer hauled by the same tractive unit.

All parts of the three-axle running gear are identical to those used on the Fl and F2 units and interchangeable with them. This makes it possible for ' existing trailers to be converted from tandemto three-axle models providing that the running gear of the tandem-axle trailer, has not been placed, by specification, in a position that prohibits this.

The unit is also available as a sub-frame-mounted running gear for frameless vans and tankers.
