VVEHICLES, tractors and trailers constitute a major proportion of the exhibits at the Public Works and Municipal Services Exhibition and Congress at Olympia. The Exhibition is open until 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Among new equipment not mentioned in The Commercial Motor last week there are several loaders and dumpers. F. E. Weatherill, Ltd., Union Row, London, N.17, are displaying a i-cu.-yd. Track Loader for the first time. It has a maximum loading height of 8 ft. 3 in. at a forward reach of 2 ft. 7 in.

Also on the Weatherill stand is an Overloader which has not been seen at the Exhibition before. This type of loader has been developed to reduce manceuvring when loading, and to facilitate loading in restricted places. This is achieved by' scooping in a forward direction and then swinging the load over the tractor to discharge it at the rear. The Overloader can be fitted with a 1-cu.-yd. or a 1-cu.-yd. scoop. The complete loading and unloading cycle takes 12 sec.

H. A. Saunders, Ltd., 836-842 High Rdad, London, N.I2, also exhibit an overhead loader for the first time. This is based on the new Bristol 22 tracked Navvy and can lift 10 cwt. to a height of 8 ft. for discharging.

A 1-cu.-yd. loader is the latest addition to the Muir-Hill range and is shown by E. Boydell and Co., Ltd., Old Trafford, Manchester, 16.

There is a great variety of trailers for snow and slush clearance, road cleaning and repairing, and so on. A trailer which is a new exhibit is one of the largest items of equipment at the Show. It is a complete asphalt and bituminous mixing plant called the Starmix No. 8 and is displayed on the stand of F. Parker, Ltd., Catherine Street, Leicester. The total road weight is 19 tons and the minimum travelling height is 12 ft.

Charles A. Preece, Ltd., 189 Bowes Road, London, NAL also display a trailer which is shown publicly for the first time this week. It is an 8-ton lowloader, specially designed for the easy movement of excavators.

A special display of 14 Bedford vehicles for municipal duties is being staged by Shaw and Kilburn, Ltd., Berkeley Square, London, WA, to tie up with the Exhibition at Olympia. It is open until tomorrow.
