The Olympic Games will cause significant disruption in the capital, where many of the events are based, but local disruption will occur across the UK during the Games period. With a national football programme, sailing and riding events outside the capital, the Olympic impact will be widespread, with Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Norwich and England’s south coast all hosting events. The Torch relay, which will begin on 18 May 2012, will be a “mobile roadblock” working its way across the UK in a 70-day journey.
