COLNBROOK-BASED Mark Mallins has been ordered to pay fines and costs of £398 for the use of a vehicle which was not specified on his licence.

Mains, trading as Riverside Haul age, pleaded guilty to the offence before the Hillingdon magistrates The prosecution did not proceed with a further charge of using an unauthorised operating centre, and this allegation was dismissed.

Anthony Ostrin, prosecuting for VOS A, told the court that a 7.5-tonne vehicle belonging to Mallins and driven by Michael Hayes had been stopped in a roadside check.

Traffic examiner Philip Crook noticed that no 0-licence disc was displayed. An 0-licence was produced and a check revealed that it belonged to Mallins but this vehicle was not specified on it.

Mallins told the court he had hired the vehicle, and accepted that it was not authorised. He was fined £250 with £148 costs.

Hayes, of Cocksgreen. Maidenhead, did not attend the hearing. He was fined £500 with £150 costs for failing to produce his tachograph chart for the last day of the week prior to the offence.
