• The Driving Standards Agency has been given 14 days to respond to an offer by LGV training schools to pay for the privilege of reserving blocks of tests.
At a meeting last Thursday (12 May) a group representing about 500 schools gave the ultimatum to DSA top management, which proposes to scrap block booking in October (CM 28 April-4 May).
The group, the Association of Vocational Driver Training Providers, says its proposal should overcome the DSA's problem of block booking being too expensive. The DSA claims many schools hook blocks of tests and then cancel them five working days before, leaving the DSA to recoup their £62 exam fee and with too little time to re-allocate their examiners' time.
