Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The long-awaited recovery in the bus and coach market suffered a setback last month when registrations were down 15% on April 1987, but January-April registrations were still 25% up on last year.

Only Dennis and Volvo managed to increase their registrations during April, although for the year to date every manufacturer is showing growth, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Volvo Bus (Great Britain) still dominates the PSV sector, with 354 vehicles registered to the end of April, giving it a 32% market share. Secondplaced Leyland Bus has a 22% share (241 registrations).

Following the buyout of Leyland Bus by Volvo Bus Corporation, Volvo and Leyland together now account for over 54% of all registrations.

Double-decker and midibus builder MCW is in third place with 16.3% (180 registrations), followed by Daf Bus with 11.5% (126). Dennis is enjoying a sales boom, with registrations up over 300%.
