WHILE Britain's motorways crumble, some 500yd of track built across Somerset swamp about 6,000 years ago is to be preserved. It is part of a 2,000yd causeway ingeniously constructed of timber poles, rails, planks and pegs, peat and lime to link hill settlements and fields to an important island in the swamp.
Will any trace of M1 exist to be preserved in 7983?
