WIMPEY TRANSPORT has purchased 27 monocoque fully-insulated aluminium alloy tipper bodied from Wefford Truck Bodies of Warley, West Midlands.

Mounted on a 6x4 Leyland Constructor the 1 1.5cum (15cuyd) capacitiy provides for a full 16-tonne payload, saving 200kg (440 lb) over previous models, and is designed to be compatible for transfer of load to asphalt machines.

Extruded

Extruded and pressed aluminium sections are used for the structure and the floor sheet are 5mm (3/16in) with the ,rea end sheets of 6mm (1/41n).

Heavy duty top rails and sift are incorporated in the buil, while the tailboard is fitted witl two position-recessed hinges ti alleviate sheet damage and tail board damage from contact witt a tipped load.

A similar design has been ex tended to suit 30-tonne opera tion for the 8x4 Leyland Con structor.
