• Following a report to the council's trading undertakings committee by Mr A. V. Rigby, general manager of Chesterfield Corporation Transport, regarding escalating prices for 18 Leyland Atlantean double-deckers on order, the committee decided to consider the possibility of cancelling an order for a further 10 Atlantean double-deckers, due in 1973. The general manager was also instructed to write to BLMC to establish the reasons for the price rises.
Mr Rigby told CM on Tuesday that an agreement had since been reached with British Leyland regarding the price of the 18 buses on order. No decision had been reached regarding the possibility of cancelling the later order. The matter was still under consideration, he stressed, and added that it was too early to speculate about possible alternative suppliers.
