• The excellent relationship between the police and operators of road haulage vehicles and their drivers in Cornwall was praised by the deputy chief constable and district commander, Mr Arthur Pill, at the RHA Devon and Cornwall area annual dinner at Newquay on Friday. He also spoke highly of the courtesy of haulage drivers, which had brought comment from other road users to the police.

Mr Pill said this was the last occasion on which Mr E. Foster toastmaster at the dinner—would appear as RHA area secretary, as he was shortly retiring after 22 years in the post.
