NEW door-to-door service for the -1 delivery of Irish livestock in Great ritain was announced this week by the ational Farmers' Union. the British ailways Board and the Road Haulage ssociation.

The scheme, which becomes operational I March 28, is the outcome of negotiants between the three bodies following -itish Railways' decision to reduce the 1mber of livestock railheads for freight tins. country. The livestock exporter or iner will be able to obtain a sIngle price quotation before dispatch. This charge will include the cost of shipping, the rail journey and road delivery.

The new service is optional. A customer will still be able, if he prefers, to book his cattle through to the nearest railhead and make his own delivery plans.
