WHEN the Green Line limitedstop coach network was inaugurated by the London General Omnibus Co more than 50 years ago, who would have foreseen that in 1982 it would extend to Continental tours?
Green Line services were operated originally with AEC Regal coaches with informative side destination boards — in sharp contrast with the modern secret service models. The London Transport Museum catalogue illustrates one that operated from '1931-1938 when it was displaced by a larger vehicle. It was stored during the war after which — "making the green one red," as Macbeth would have said 7 it was converted to a bus and continued to work until 1960.
