WHEN the exuberant Ken Rogers performed the last rites of a retiring RHA chairman by welcoming the guests at the association's annual dinner, he gave no hint of the pounding that he had undergone in the past two years.
He travelled 46,116 miles on RHA business, attending 322 meetings, 127 dinners or lunches and 79 weekend engagements, and delivering 96 addresses of various kinds. With great self-indulgence he spent 26 weekends at home.
When he began his chairmanship he weighed 13st 71b; at the end, 13st 81b. Which shows that you can't keep a good man's weight down if he spends half his time eating and drinking.
