to interested organizations a proposal to increase the rear overhang of motor vehicles from 50 per cent to 60 per cent of the wheelbase. This variation is intended to help designers to improve component layout, and may also indirectly result in a smaller turning circle for large capacity vehicles. The 60 per cent overhang is already operative in a number of European countries; its implementation here would coincide with the introduction of increased weights and dimensions of road vehicles already proposed by the Ministry. The Traders Road Transport Association has welcomed the proposal as a simplification, and the vehicles committee is to give it urgent consideration.
