Mr. W. J. Irons, manager of the Southampton District of British Road Services Ltd.. has been presented with a 45-year long-service award. He began his road transport career as a junior clerk with H. and G. Dutfield on December 2, 1918 and worked his way up to become general manager and a director. The Council of the London Chamber of Commerce has elected Mr. P. S. Henman to succeed Mr. F. H. Tate as chairman of the Council. Mr. Henrnan is chairman of the Transport Development Group Ltd. and the Square Grip Reinforcement Co. (London) Ltd.

Mr. J. T. E. Robinson, at present director and general manager of United Counties Omnibus Co. Ltd., has been appointed director and general manager of Bristol Omnibus Co. Ltd. and its associates with effect from September 1.

Mr. R. G. Bennet and Mr. R. C. Tarling, who 'recently became directors of A.E.C. Ltd., have been appointed to the boards of A.E.C. associate companies in Belgium and France. Earlier this year, both men were appointed directors of the Spanish associate company. BarreirosA.E.C., S.A. of Madrid. Mr. Bennett, who becomes A.E.C. general sales manager on July 1, and Mr. Tarling both become directors of A.E.C. At -a meeting of The Public Transport Association council,Mr. W. M. Dravers was reelected council chairman for a second year. Mr. L M. Birch retired as a vice-chairman. a position he had held for two years. Mr. M. A. Holmes was re-elected a vice-chairman and G. H. S. Pickett was elected a vice-chairman for the first time.

Mr. L. A. Ward has been appointed by Dennis Bros. Ltd. as sales engineer for South Wales, North Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. Mr. Ward joins the parent company from the Mercury Group, subsidiaries of Dennis Bros. Mr. G. L. Taft has been appointed sales engineer for the northern area of England. He served his apprenticeship with Dennis Bros.

Mr. K. E. Sandguist, formerly works manager of the SKF factory at Cannstatt. Germany, has been appointed managing director of The Skefko Ball Bearing Co. Ltd., Luton. He succeeds Mr. C. F. Lindskog, managing director since July, 1960,who is taking up an appointment as deputy managing director in charge of sales with SKF at Gothenburg, Sweden.

Obituary

We regret to record the death of Mr. F. T. Auld at the Royal Surrey Hospital last Friday. Mr, Auld had only recently taken up the position of commercial sales manager at Jackson's Garage (Guildford) Ltd., having previously been commercial vehicle sales manager of L. F. Dove (C.V.) Ltd. He was a member of the committee of the T.R.T.A. Surrey and South Middlesex area.
