MR. P. W. MCGUIRE, who, a short time ago, resigned his Position as managing director of Armstrong' Saurer Commercial Vehicles, Ltd., has joined the management of the Chesterfield Tube Co., Ltd., of Chesterfield.
For many years a member of the staff of Halley Motors, Ltd., Glasgow, MR. D. M. McN.En., SHARP, whose por trait is reproduced on this page, has joined Gilfords (H.S.G.), Ltd., a reference to the activities of which concern appears elsewhere in this issue. He has been appointed general manager of the company.
MR. R. J. PINDER, assistant salesmanager for the South Wales area of the Anglo-American Oil Co., Ltd., has• been appointed sales manager for the Liverpool area, He will be succeeded
• outh Wales by MR. J. W. NIARSTON, formerly assistant sales manager of the company's eastern counties area, MR. E. J. SHOPLAND, formerly Clerk to the East Midland Traffic Commissioners, has been appointed to the position of Clerk to the West Midland Area. He will take over, his duties when the present Clerk, Mr. S. W. Nelson, proceeds abroad on July 3 as ohairman of the Central Transport Licensing Board of the Federated Malay States. Mr. Shopland was born in 1892 and entered the Civil Service in 1908; after four years in the Board of Trade and with the National Health Insurance Corrunissioners he served in the War as an officer. His appointment to the East Midland Area dated from 1931.
MR. E. C. GRIFF/THS recently left London for South Africa to take up a new appointment as resident representative of Rootes, Ltd., in that country. Ile is to make his headquarters in Johannesburg and succeeds Mr. John Good, who has acted in a similar capacity in South Africa for the past five years.
Having lived in South Africa for many years, Mr. Griffiths is . well acquainted with his new territory: Business interests _brought. him to England ten years ago when he became associated with the Chrysler and Dodge concerns, with which be was connected until be joined the Rootes organization last year, with his present appointment in view.
For the past seven months Mr. Griffiths has spent his time between the Commer, Karrier, Humber and Hillman factories.
