W. Nelson, proceeds abroad on July 3 as ohairman of the Central Transport Licensing Board of the Federated Malay States. Mr. Shopland was born in 1892 and entered the Civil Service in 1908; after four years in the Board of Trade and with the National Health Insurance Corrunissioners he served in the War as an officer. His appointment to the East Midland Area dated from 1931.

MR. E. C. GRIFF/THS recently left London for South Africa to take up a new appointment as resident representative of Rootes, Ltd., in that country. Ile is to make his headquarters in Johannesburg and succeeds Mr. John Good, who has acted in a similar capacity in South Africa for the past five years.

Having lived in South Africa for many years, Mr. Griffiths is . well acquainted with his new territory: Business interests _brought. him to England ten years ago when he became associated with the Chrysler and Dodge concerns, with which be was connected until be joined the Rootes organization last year, with his present appointment in view.

For the past seven months Mr. Griffiths has spent his time between the Commer, Karrier, Humber and Hillman factories.
