Former British Ambassador to South Africa, Sir David Scott, has joined the Board of Mitchell Cotts Group as a nonexecutive director.

Paul Bourgeois, recently promoted to the new post of product services director of Leyland Vehicles Ltd, has left the company to develop his own Talbot agency. Mr Bourgeois joined Leyland in 1977 as group product planning manager covering all products, but prior to 1977 was managing director of Yorkshire Vehicles Ltd. He was succeeded as product planning manager by Robin Woolcock, previously the company's heavy lorry product planning manager.

BSG International's new director, fleet and leasing is Fred Geeves. In his new post he will be responsible for national fleet account sales and contract hire/leasing activities.

Prior to this new appointment, Mr Geeves was marketing director of Autolease Ltd, the BSG subsidiary responsible for the Group's contract hire and leasing activities.

CHFJohn Kotz (Labour), deputy leader of Hackney London Borough Council, has been elected chairman of the public works committee of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities. ClIr Kotz succeeds ClIr Jack Smart (Labour, Wakefield) who has been chairman of the committee since its inception in 1974. A councillor since 1953, ClIr Kotz has been deputy leader of Hackney for three years. He has served on the London Boroughs Association since 1970 and is a member of the LBA's housing and works committee.

Truckparts Ltd, the

Willenhall-based distributor of commercial vehicle components and accessories, has promoted Barry Perim to the position of general manager. Mr Perks joined the company in 1974 as stores manager.
