I-1 A HAULIER who was told to "put his house in order when he appeared before the Northern Licensing Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, in May (The Commercial Motor, May 31), made a successful application last week.
Mr. John R. Taylor, Great Strickland, near Penrith, has been told to produce accountant's figures of the haulage side of his business when he sought renewal of two B licences for vehicles owned by his wife, and to take over the licence of a lorry he had bought.
Representing Mr. Taylor last week, Mr. F. MiltonNorthern Area secretary of the Road Haulage Association, explained that the new application was in respect of Mrs. Taylor's vehicles only. The other one would be used as a replacement.
In evidence, Mr. Taylor said that since the last hearing he had obtained the required business details from his accountants, although it had been impossible to allocate earnings to individual vehicles Granting the renewal, Mr. Hanlon said he was satisfied that matters were now in order, as Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were acting on the advice of properly qualified people.
