NATIONAL Freight Corporation company Eastern British Road Services has named three new branch managers.
Taking over as manager of the Newark branch is John Wright, who joined the company in 1964 as a driver. Since then he has been assistant manager at Peterborough and operations manager at Northampton before becoming the manager at Wellingborough in January 1978.
Succeeding Mr Wright at Wellingborough is Charles Bezzina. He joined Eastern BRS in August 1978 as a management trainee and moved to assistant manager at Wellingborough in May last year. Finally, John Stroud is the new manager at the King's Lynn depot, he also having joined the company in May last year.
Operations manager at Greater Glasgow PTE, Brian Hirst, is to move to Yorkshire Traction as general manager as from March 1. He succeeds William Price who recently became general manager of the National Bus Company's West Riding Group.
Mr Hirst, who is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport, started his career in the bus industry as a traffic clerk with Yorkshire Woollen District, becoming assistant traffic manager in 1970. After subsequently holdi the position of assistant tral manager at West Riding a Southdown, Mr Hirst moved the Northern Group as tral manager and then, in 1978, Greater Glasgow PTE as ope tions manager.
