HAULIERS were feeling the effects of secondary picketing this week, and several Road Haulage Association areas report thal drivers are still being laid off.
Haulage and distribution companies anticipate problems if the Metal Box company's can factories continue to be blockaded, as it fears it will have to stop production by the end of next week.
RHA Sheffield area secretary Brenda Siddall said she estimated that around 1000 drivers in her area have been laid off, and in Scotland "widespread and effective" secondary picketing has forced many hauliers to lay off at least 150 drivers, according to RHA's Tom Brattin.
