TYNE AND WEAR rate could rise by 44 per cent nex year, largely to meet growin public transport expenditure.
The county anticipates tha overall transport costs will in crease from £21.4m to £35m 1980-1, and the public trans port deficit will rise from £711 to £12.7m, even after a 30 pe cent increase in fares.
There will also be a rise ii expenditure on concessionar: fares.
