Dennis Machines at Birmingham.

A 40 lep. Dennis vehicle, equipped t6 carry a 50 ft. escape, and with its body designed to provide good space for hand pumps and gear, is now doing good service for the Birmingham Brigade. It is a repeat. order.

Dundee Buying Again.

Dundee Town Council wants tenders for a petrol motor (combined turbine pump, fire ladder, and first-aid machine) fire-engine, Mr. J. S. Weir, the firemaster, will supply form of tender and specification. The closing date is the 31st inst. at noon. 200-Gallon Sets.

We think there is a big potential demand for smaller engines, and that makers would find a market amongst urban and rural district councils if they did not allow the spirit of emulation to cause them to study only the big outfit.

Straws Show, etc.

A copy of " The Straits Echo," a daily paper published in Penang, has just reached us, and we are interested to find in its columns a municipal notice from Georgetown to the effect that two Merryweather horse-drawn fire-engines are for sale, and that one of them is being offered " to make room for a motor engine."
