Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE DEATH OF a driver who was killed when his truck smashed into a queue of traffic was accidental, a Gloucestershire inquest has found; he is thought to have suffered a heart attack.

John Napier was doing 47mph when he ploughed into an artic waiting at temporary traffic lights on the A46 near Tewkesbury last August. Police accident investigators reported that the crash occurred on a clear day and Napier would have had a good view of the road ahead. The temporary lights were properly signposted.

Pathologist Dr Jeremy Uff told the inquest that a post mortem revealed Napier had severe coronary disease. He could have been distracted by pain moments before the crash and might have blacked out.

Coroner Lester Maddrell said that sometimes this type of accident happened because drivers simply lost concentration, but he did not believe that was a factor in this incident:"Mr Napier was an experienced driver. It is quite clear from the evidence that at some time prior to his death he suffered from an acute narrowing of a coronary artery that would very likely have produced a severe pain.

"It would be wrong of me to ignore that compelling evidence. There's a very, very strong possibility that the reason this gentleman didn't react to what was ahead of him is connected in some way to this condition."
