• The Association of Load Restraint Equipment Manufacturers (ALREM) is asking all drivers involved in load-shift incidents to report details so that it can conduct research into the extent of the problem.
ALREM will attempt to establish the cost of insecure load accidents, including loss of life and downtime to all involved. It will then propose solutions in a bid to minimise such incidents.
The specification of loadrestraint equipment gets dissipated, not through cost but through ignorance, because people don't realise it's important." says ALREM secretary Norma Hopkins. We need drivers to understand the safety impli cations of load restraint."
